Thank you to Mary Johnson for preaching today.

Thank you to Judy Ragland for playing the organ today.

Pastor Dennis will be on vacation July 29-August 25. Pastor Mary Johnson will preach August 18 and 25.  Pastor Mary is also available to handle emergencies, 607-9130.

Flowers for today are provided by Sheila Johnson in honor of her youngest grandson, Brody Michael Johnson’s 3rd birthday.

Thank you to everyone who helped me when I collapsed last Sunday during the worship service. I spent the afternoon in the emergency room then ICU, and was discharged to go home at 6p.m. I also want to thank Pastor Ginny and Mike Krekling for coming to the hospital for prayers. So sorry I interrupted the service, I am fine now! Thanks again, Don Morris

In June, FLC donated 48 pounds to the food bank.  We suspect there was more given - possibly because people may be taking produce, etc. in the middle of the week. Whenever you take in food (as, from your gardens), please be sure to weigh it and write down the # of pounds on the form nearby.  If someone is in the food bank at the time, he/she can help you. Thank you!  Outreach

Financial Statements: The first half of 2013 financial statements are ready to be picked up. They are on a table in the Fellowship Hall. If you have an email address on file with the church office, they were sent to you via email.

Summer Youth Program: The FLC Summer Youth schedule is in its final weeks, but we still have some key events and opportunities before Labor Day (including the Moses Lake Waterpark trip and Bible Memorization Lunch). The Youth Summer Schedule is still available at FLC's web site (www.flc-eburg.org/ministry/youth-summer) or contact Joe Johnson at flcyouth.eburg@gmail.com for more details.

High School Home Study: 8/18 7:00–8:00 at Ryan and Sarah's. Our High School Home Studies started well, but dwindled mid-summer. So, let's finish strong. It doesn't matter if you've been to zero or four meetings, so far—come to this one. We'll spend some time working through a few chapters in Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. Bring your Bible (we'll have a few extra if you forget). Ryan and Sarah are hosting (address to come), so we get to invade their house for an evening.

Moses Lake Waterpark: 8/20 9:30–5:00 We survived last year, so we’re going back to the Moses Lake Surf 'n Slide Water Park. [$8–$10, depending on age]. We also need a few drivers. Although this is technically a "Youth" event, it's a great opportunity for whole families to join us. To RSVP—as a driver or attendee—please click here or go to the Youth page on the FLC site. So far, we have one driver and one swimmer signed up, though rumor has it that several more are coming. Please, please be sure to sign up so we can make sure we have enough seats.

August Youth-Adult Book: 8/25 6:30–8:00 The August book is Elisabeth Elliot's first-hand account of five young missionaries in Ecuador, Through Gates of Splendor (ISBN 0842371524). This is a fantastic book that tells a remarkable and true story. Also, it raises some questions about God's calling and how it can change everything. Please, please read this. And remember, this isn't just for Youth. [Updates coming on the meeting place.] Will anyone who's reading the book, please contact Joe (509-607-1454 or flcyouth.eburg@gmail.com)? So far, only one person is known to be reading. We may need to reschedule or cancel, depending on participation and possible schedule conflicts.

Winegar's Wednesday: 8/28 2:00–3:00 It's our last WW of the summer. Come for a few minutes or the whole hour as we chat about summer, the start of school, and our readings for the week. [University Way Winegar's]

Bible Memorization Challenge: By 8/29 Memorize ten Bible passages by Thursday, August 29, and the Youth program will buy you lunch at Bleachers on University Way, 12:00–1:30 on Thursday, August 29. Download a copy of the selected verses:             (http://www.flc-eburg.org/ministry/youth-summer). You have all summer to memorize these ten and recite them. Start now! (so far, we have one person who has memorized and recited seven....). Time is running out.

Email Updates: Would you like to receive FLC news, Youth updates, Prayer Requests, and/or Sunday School info through email? If so, then be sure to signup on the FLC Email Notification list. You can find a quick form on the FLC web site. Please signup now, and keep connected.

VENTURES FOR GROWING STEWARDS, Information Meeting Sunday, August 18th  1:30-3pm Central Lutheran Church, Yakima 1604 W. Yakima Ave. Yakima WA ph: (509) 575 6490 “Ventures” has been taught in the ELCA since 1999. Over 700 congregations have learned how to develop an effective stewardship ministry. It is updated regularly, well organized and comprehensive. The resources are fabulous. This introductory meeting will explain the Ventures workshops; what you will learn and the benefits. You will get a sense for the approach as being a cultural shift in the whole congregation to a spirit of gratitude and generosity. It is about growing stewards. The meeting will describe the level of commitment involved, how to select a Ventures stewardship team for your congregation, the pre-workshop preparation, the fee, schedule and ongoing support. Taking this workshop series is a journey because everyone learns together and has conversations about the challenges and opportunities of year round stewardship that is well planned out. Who would have thought stewardship education could be an exciting way to grow in faith! For any questions contact helga.jansons@elca.org  or call 509 380-7122 Pastor Helga Jansons, Director for Evangelical Mission, EWAID synod
