Baked goods can be dropped off Sept. 4-6 between 7:00-11am at Pacifica, 818 E. Mt. FISH Adopt a Shelf ….Protein…. This summer June, July and August First Lutheran is adopting a shelf at FISH Food Bank. This shelf holds all kinds of protein, think heat and eat canned meals.  Such as beef stew, chili, chili mac, ravioli, corned beef hash and chicken & dumplings. (No tuna fish.) Generic is fine, and bringing one or two kinds will also work.  This shelf holds a lot of variety!  Please just bring them to church with you and fill our food bank box.  We would like to provide 50 cans a week.

Weekend Nutrition for Hungry Kids First Lutheran will once again be participating in providing weekend nutrition for kids at Lincoln Elementary, Dammon and Thorp Schools. Our Food Bank contact person, Judy Ragland has placed a box under the coat rack with a suggested list of non-perishable and easy to prepare food items.  FLC will also order some foods through the Food Bank since FISH can get them at a greatly reduced price.  We will pack bags of food on Thursday and deliver them.  Your donations are greatly appreciated.  If you prefer to give a check, please make it out to First Lutheran Church and mark “Weekend Nutrition Program” in the memo line.  Thank you for helping to alleviate hunger in our community!  Examples of food items needed: protein bars, 6oz juice, 4 oz applesauce or fruit cups, prepared puddings, packages of crackers and cheese or peanut butter, 6oz packages of fruit snacks or raisins, packages of hot chocolate or apple cider, breakfast cookies, nutria grain bars, granola bars, shelf stable milk, instant oatmeal.

Paddle Pilgrim: Kayaking the Fjords of Norway Dave Ellingson, former First Lutheran Church campus minister will be in Ellensburg on September 8th.  He will share his recent experiences kayaking in Norway at the Hal Holmes Center 1-3p.m. Dave Ellingson, whose Mississippi River, Erie Canal and Hudson River expeditions are chronicled in his popular Paddle Pilgrim books, enjoyed a spectacular month paddling last summer on his ancestral Sogne and Hardanger Fjords.  Dave will share spell-binding stories and award-winning photographs from his recent adventure in Norway.  His latest Paddle Pilgrim: Kayaking the Fjords of Norway book, hot off the press, will be available for purchase and signed by the author!
