This will be a good time to ask questions, get an overview of the year and sign up to be acolytes. This year we will be doing Youth Fun Nights on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  On Sept 10th we will also walk through what you do as an acolyte on Sundays.  Actual confirmation classes will start on Wed., Sept. 17th at 6:30 pm.  This year we will be studying the New Testament and The Lord’s Prayer. Please let pastor Dennis know how many from your family are coming to the Pizza Feed on Wed., Sept 10th so he orders enough food.  925-2844 church,  933-2605 home. High Schoolers are welcome to come and have pizza with us, too.

Stewardship Stu here with a question. Are you a visitor here today? Did you come to Ellensburg for the Fair and Rodeo? I hope so. You probably noticed how empty the pews are... well, dah... it's Labor Day and most of the locals are either shepherding livestock or youngsters. My column is about Stewardship... and that's what the Fair and the Rodeo are all about. In the Kittitas Valley we celebrate our agricultural roots, we thank God for rain and sun, hay drying wind, and soil resting snow. We are all about Stewardship... of the land, our crops, of our lives, of our neighborhoods, and of our God given gifts. I encourage you to question your response to the needs of neighbors... your neighbors, our neighbors, all those our God promised to care for. It's Stewardship... of your time, your talents, and, of course, your treasure that marks you as a Child of God. God bless you this weekend. Have a great Labor Day... and remember to share your blessings when you get safely home. Come back again soon and I'll see you in Church. Stu

Help those affected by the NW fires:  After consultation with Lutheran Disaster Response, our synod has opened a restricted account at ELCA Region 1 where folks and congregations can send checks to support those who have been devastated.  As funds come in, the Region 1 office will be in touch with the local congregation/local contact where they know the agencies working for relief and the local needs.  We will also partner up with Catholic Charities, Red Cross, and the Salvation Army.  Kittitas County of Thrivent will match funds given up to $500.  Please mark your donations as “NW Fires.”

My name is Alec Keith, I am a CWU student that has been regularly attending services during the school year, and occasionally play flute for the services as well. I am finishing up my B.A. degree in music this coming fall. Unfortunately, I have been having a very difficult time finding a place to live for Sept. through Dec. only, and was wondering if there is anyone in the congregation that has or knows a place that I can rent for Fall quarter only.  Thank you.  Please contact the church office with any information.
