Thank you to Mary Johnson for preaching today.

Flowers for today are provided by Betty Kramlich.

Matthew Erickson, Pat Erickson’s grandson, will be ordained here on Saturday, August 11th at 1:30p. Bishop Martin Wells will be here along with other Pastors and friends of Matthew. (Dennis will be here.)  The congregation is cordially invited. The worship service (holy communion) will be late morning or early afternoon. Matthew’s family will take care of the food.  Matthew has been called to serve as pastor of Calvary Lutheran in Post Falls, Idaho.

Anyone wishing to join in the choir to sing well known hymns for this service are invited to attend a rehearsal at 10:30a. For more information or to let Matthew know that you are interested in joining the choir, contact him at 360-296-3070 or by email at Matt_Leif@hotmail.com

Carpet Cleaning Tuesday, August 7th: First Lutheran will be closed for carpet cleaning in some areas of the church. It should be dry enough Wednesday for normal use. If anyone is willing to move tables and chairs in the Fellowship hall to the gym after worship today, it would be very much appreciated! (The long pews against the wall can stay.) Thank you!

Youth Families: Date Change! Our “very important Event Planning Meeting” was scheduled for August 12. However, a Heavenly Harp potluck will follow worship that Sunday, so we’ll move a week later to August 19 after worship. This really is a key meeting. As Joe transitions out of the Youth Director position, we need to plan for the 2012–2013 Youth Program. If you have a child in Youth (or would like to be involved with the Youth program), please plan on attending. Thanks.

Girls’ Bible Study: This summer, Amanda is hosting a bi-weekly, evening bible study for Youth girls at her apartment. Only two remain, so if you haven’t come yet, be sure to come August 11, 6:30-8:00 p.m.. This is open to all Youth girls (including our newest Youth, those students now completing fifth grade). For more information, please check with Joe or Amanda.

Open Gym and Office Hours: Every-other Mondays Joe will keep office hours in thefellowship hall. Youth are invited to stop in to use the gym or chat. 10:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. (Two remaining: 8/13, 8/27).

Winegar’s Wednesdays: Joe and all interested Youth will camp out at the University Way Winegar’s from 2:00–3:00 p.m. This is a little time for Youth to talk, pray, read together . . . and have ice cream. If you missed the first two, don’t worry; there are still two more — 8/15, 8/29. Come for them all, or just whenever you’re able.

Waterpark Trip: On Tuesday, August 21, the Youth will travel to the Moses Lake
waterpark, leaving FLC at 9:00 and returning between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. To guarantee a space — so we can get a group discount — RSVP via e-mail, sign-up sheet (on the gym door), or through Facebook. (5-12 years: $7.00, 13-17 years: $8.00, 18-64 years: $9.00. A concession stand is at the park.) Drivers and chaperones needed.

Facebook and Event Updates: Although the Youth Department sends out e-mails from time-to-time, our usual way of communicating is with the Facebook page. Remember that you don’t necessarily need to be on Facebook to use that page. Just go to our address — www.facebook.com/flcyouth — and keep updated on the latest news and events. And, if you “Like” us, you can receive automatic updates and join events.

Youth Updates: Do you want Youth updates through e-mail? If so, please e-mail Joe at flcyouth.eburg@gmail.com to be included on our news and events e-mail list. You can also watch the bulletin, the FLC web site, the Youth Facebook page, and the FLARE for more information.

Summer Youth Schedule: Summer’s half-way over, but there are still opportunities for meeting together, worshiping God in fellowship, discipleship, and service. Youth and
volunteers are needed throughout the summer to continue the work (and play) God has for us. Please pick up a copy of the summer schedule from the “kid’s table” outside the church office or request a PDF copy (flcyouth.eburg@gmail.com).
