FLC CONTINUES "BREAD" TRADITION! Last Sunday's Bread for the World Bake Sale was (again!) a rousing success!  BAKERS and BUYERS really rose to the occasion, generating MORE THAN $600!   And again, Rick Steves, famed travel guru, will MATCH our gift!  Thank you, all!

Congratulations to Taylor & Anna Dawson on the birth of a baby girl! Brooklyn was born November 26th and mom and baby are doing well.  Sheila Johnson is a proud great-grandma!

You are invited to the Scandinavian Dinner: Wednesday, December 6 at 5:30 PM Please mark your calendars for the annual Scandinavian Dinner, which is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6 at 5:30 pm.  We will be setting up the Fellowship Hall to accommodate 173 diners.  To be sure that you and your guests will be able to be seated when you arrive, please pick up a FREE ticket for each person in your party.  We’ll also keep track of the people to whom we give tickets and how many tickets we’ve given away. In addition, we are asking for a crew of helpers and chefs who will be instrumental in making the event a success.  There are two sign-up opportunities:  one for being part of the crew of helpers and the other for saying what food you’ll prepare. The Congregational Life Ministry sincerely hopes you will join us for this festive occasion and thanks you in advance for your assistance.

Weekend nutrition for hungry kids First Lutheran has an exciting new opportunity to reduce hunger in our community.  In partnership with FISH Food Bank, we will be providing weekend nutrition for about 15 needy kids at Lincoln Elementary School, and possibly for about 6 kids at Morgan Middle School.  St. Andrews already provides for Valleyview and First Presbyterian provides for Mt. Stuart.  Also called the “Backpack Program”, this nutrition program supplies food for 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners per child to help hungry kids make it through the weekend. Our Food Bank contact person, Judy Ragland has placed a box under the coat rack with a suggested list of non-perishable and easy to prepare food items.  FLC will also order some foods through the Food Bank since FISH can get them at a greatly reduced price.  We will pack bags of food on Thursday and deliver them to Lincoln Elementary.  Teachers then discreetly hand them out to needy children on Fridays.  Your donations are  greatly appreciated.  If you prefer to give a check, please make it out to First Lutheran Church and mark “Weekend Nutrition Program” in the memo line.  Thank you for helping to alleviate hunger in our community!
