Scandinavian Potluck Dinner, Wednesday, December 9th at 5:30p.m.

We will be setting up the Fellowship Hall to accommodate 180 diners. To be sure that you and your guests will be able to be seated when you arrive, you should pick up a FREE ticket for each person in your party, we’ll also keep track of the people to whom we gave tickets and how many. Tickets will be available after church today. If you have tickets and cannot attend the dinner, please call the church office at 925-2844 to let us know you’re not coming. In addition, we are asking for a crew of helpers and chefs who will be instrumental in making the event a success. There are two sign-up opportunities: one for being part of the crew of helpers and the other for indicating what food you’ll prepare. The Congregational Life Ministry thanks you in advance for your assistance.

On Sunday Dec 13th after worship we will have a light lunch and then pile into cars to sing Christmas carols to our home-bound members.  All ages, including youth, are cordially invited to join in and share a little Christmas cheer with our brothers and sisters in Christ who can’t get out much anymore.  We’ll visit several of the care facilities in town as well as some private homes.

Advent Service of Lessons and Carols Grace Episcopal Church, 1201 N. B St.  Sunday, Dec 13th at 3pm. This wonderful ecumenical worship service has been happening in Ellensburg since 1988.  This service was first presented at King’s College, Cambridge in 1918.  The congregation joins in singing many Christmas carols.  Choirs from a number of churches, including First Lutheran, sing separately and then as a combined choir.  Pastors from different churches read the scripture lessons and a whole host of scrumptious cookies await you at the fellowship time afterwards.  Come early to find parking and seating, as it is usually a full house.
