Flowers for today are provided by Don & Donna Morris in honor of 58 Christmas’ together.

All Ministries:  TODAY, after worship. If you are on Stewardship, Congregational Life, Property Management, Education, Outreach, Youth or Worship & Music. Please plan to stay for 30 minutes and meet with your ministry and council Representative to discuss and plan. If you have thought about serving on one of these ministries, December 9th is a great time to learn more. Everyone is welcome.

Choir: We will meet on Wednesday, December 12th at 6p.m. for rehearsal instead of Thursday. We will stop at 6:45 so we can attend the Advent Service at 7p.m. Normal 7p.m. Thursday rehearsal on December 20th.

Sunday, December 16:   All Sunday School and Bible Adventure children (ages preschool through 5th grade) are welcome to dress in nativity costumes for a processional during the  Hymn of the Day after the sermon.  Kids preschool through 5th grade meet in the Bible Adventure room after the  Childrens’ sermon (during the Bible Adventure time) to put on your costume.

New Members/Inquirer’s Classes: Sundays Nov 11&18 and Dec 2 & 9 at 11:30 am in the chapel. Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a little refresher on what Lutherans believe is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services.  We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis in the chapel room and read together Dan Erlander’s great little book, “Baptized We Live.”  It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Adult Sunday Class is studying the Gospel of Luke (since the year of Luke starts Sunday, December 2nd.) It’s never too late to join in. We meet 8:45—9:45 in the chapel. All are welcome.

Community Christmas Basket:

This year we are once again asking for monetary donations which will be given to the Community Christmas Basket Program.   Thrivent will match all monetary donations up to $1,000, thereby doubling what is given!   Look for a Thrivent officer at a table in the fellowship hall on Dec. 2, 9, and 16 or you may place your check in the offering plate.

Please make any checks payable to:”First Lutheran” with “Christmas Basket” on the memo line so your donation can be matched dollar-for-dollar.  The money collected will be used to purchase needed food and gift items for the baskets.  If we can collect up to $1,000, we will be able to give $2,000 to this valuable community program!

We also would like to thank the quilters for their donations of quilts to the Christmas Baskets.

There will be no Sunday School classes for children and youth on Dec. 23 or 30 during Christmas break.  Classes will resume Sunday, Jan. 6.

The next Lutherhaven Night is Tuesday, December 11th. Come have fun with counselors Lauren Bender and Eric Czrr. Kindergarten-5th grade 4:30-5:45. Everyone (including parents) is invited for dinner at 5:45. 6:15-7:40 Middle School and High School. Singing, praying, crazy games-you know it’s fun: text your friends.

SPARROW CHOIR SEEKS SINGERS…

The Ellensburg Sparrow Singers, a 4-part mixed choir, is seeking additional singers in preparation for the Dillon Duncan Benefit Concert, titled “Songs of Love”. The benefit program will be held on Friday evening, February 22nd at Gallery One on Pearl Street.  The proceeds from the concert will directly benefit the Duncan family and help to cover medical expenses from treatment following Dillon’s accident.

All voice parts are needed and all are welcome.  There is no audition process, we only ask that you enjoy choral music and like to sing.  There are a total of ten rehearsals leading up to the concert.  Rehearsals are held at Ellensburg First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30.  There are two December rehearsals; 12/4 and 12/11.

The remaining rehearsals resume following the New Year Holiday, on January 8th.

The Sparrow Singers Choir is a musical arm of the Ellensburg Sparrow Club, a non-profit organization that supports children in our community who are facing medical and financial challenges.
