Flowers for today are provided by Sheila Johnson in honor of her son, Jeff’s birthday.

Thank you, Kathy Temple for playing for the choir.

Thank you, to Judy Ragland for playing the organ today.

Annual Meeting of First Lutheran Church: Today, after the 10 AM worship service.  You won’t go hungry, because the youth will be serving their famous baked-potato bar with all the toppings.  We need all voting members of FLC at this meeting to elect new church council members, pass a budget and perhaps approve new by-laws.

Thrivent Members: Don’t forget to direct your Thrivent Choice Dollars to you charity of choice (perhaps First Lutheran Church).

Wanted: The Preschool is in need of oatmeal containers.  Please drop them off in the office.

Souper Bowl of Caring:  Sunday, February 7th, bring a dollar or a can of soup for our FISH Food Bank.

Free: If you would like to have an old green Lutheran Book of Worship, please help yourself. The church will hold on to 20-30, but please take home any of the LBW’s on the book cart near the coat rack.

Cold Weather Shelter for homeless people   Thursday Nights at First Lutheran. The weekly schedule is:  Mon/Tues—First Christian,  Wed—-First Methodist,  Thurs—First Lutheran,  Fri—Chestnut St. Baptist,  Sat—Mercer Creek,  Sun—Community of Christ.  Please call me 925-2844 church or 933-2605 home or e-mail flceburg@yahoo and let me know and/or indicate on your Time & Talent sheet that you are willing or go to www.volunteerspot.com and sign up.  Blessings upon you,  Pastor Dennis

Operating the shelter does cost the church money of course, heat, lights, hot water for showers and laundry. Would you like to sponsor a shelter night for about $30? If so just make checks out to “First Lutheran” and write “Cold Weather Shelter” in the memo line. Thank you!!

 Youth Activities

Today is the annual Potato Bar Fundraiser!  Go team go!  Meet me in the kitchen as church gets out and we will be serving up the super spuds!

Next Sunday - February 7 - Souper Bowl of Caring!  Pick a team and hold a soup pot to collect donations of food and money for our local food bank.  In this event there are only winners!  We will be reporting our results online and get included in the great final nationwide tally.

Lent is coming!  We will be meeting for Youth Devotionals after soup supper starting February 17th.  Bring a bar of soap.
