Vacation Bible School starts in just a few weeks!  Sunday, June 28 through Thursday, July 2 each evening from 6:00—8:15p.m. Registration forms and a parent letter can be found in the fellowship hall.  To all—please check out the sign-up board to bring cookies, help with a meal, or to help in other areas.  Children age 4 through those entering 6th grade are invited!

Helpers are needed for the Summer Lunch Program for kids. Again this summer our F.I.S.H. Food Bank will be cooking up nutritious lunches for kids and serving them at Mountainview, Kiwanis and North Alder Parks, as well as Kittitas. Churches take a week during the summer to help serve. FLC’s turn to help serve is June 22-26. Mountainview 11:30, North Alder 12:00, Kittitas 12:00 and Kiwanis 12:30. Our week is June 22-26. 10 people (2 teams of 5) are needed to cover Mountainview , North Alder and Kiwanis Parks. Sign up with Amy McCoy or Pastor Dennis. One team would cover Mountainview and Kiwanis, (please be at Mountain view at 11:15). One team would cover N. Alder (please be there at 11:45). Thank you!!

Food Bank Dinner: It is First Lutheran’s turn to cook the FISH Food Bank meal this Saturday, June 20th. We’ll start cooking about 3p and serve around 5p. Let Pastor Dennis know if you can help.

Special Music this Summer: Do you sing or play an instrument? Would you like to share your gift of music during worship some Sunday(s)? If so, we welcome you to do so this summer, June through September, while the choir takes a break. Please coordinate with Betty Kramlich, especially if you would like her to accompany you. Thank you!

Join Faith Action Network for the Yakima Spring Summit today, Sunday, June 14th at Wesley United Methodist Church of Yakima from 3 PM to 5 PM.  This event provides a time for bringing the issues that you care about to the conversation and taking part in setting the framework for FAN's upcoming legislative work. There is no cost to attend the summit, so be sure to invite a friend (or several)! If you plan on attending please be sure to RSVP for the summit.

"Our church can really help our local Habitat for Humanity this summer.  Carla Tacher, the "Affiliate coordinator, has asked that FLC  help out at the Habitat store located on Railroad Ave. Beautification both inside and outside of the store is needed.  Straightening up plus landscaping are possibilities.  This is a great summer time opportunity as those interested can help as little as one day while a work crew is at the store, or more often as summer plans permit.  If this sounds like something you are interested in learning more about,   please sign up on the Outreach bulletin board near the kitchen door.  You will be soon contacted about the meeting with Carla.  Thank you for considering an involvement in this project!"

Youth Activities

Saturday – June 20th   Dachshunds on Parade clean up.  For all of you Juniors, here’s some community service points!  We will be rolling up sod, stacking chairs, and taking down the dog show “fence”  (think weenie-dog size!).  After we will head over to have a cupcake at Sara Jean’s or a milkshakes at the Soupbowl.  This is a huge service and favor to the family who hosts the event each year.  Meet at the Eburg Bull statue across from the pet shop at 1:30 p.m.

Thank you, thank you, (yawn), thank you!  To all those who dedicated their time, energy, and even an inflatable mattress at the lock in: thank you!  You are the ultimate Youth Group heroes!

Coming up soon:

Serving lunch with FISH – it’s the week of June 22-26.  Don’t miss it!
