Bread for the World Offering of Letters – TODAY!

When we write on behalf of the poor and hungry, we are not “mixing politics and religion.”  We are living and acting on our faith.  Today we may extend our worship time by writing to our people in Congress and by petitioning the President, calling upon them to remember the poor, hungry and powerless as they balance the demands upon our national budget.  These letters will be blessed in our sanctuary, then sent on their way.

Confirmation Classes are over for this year but Middle Schoolers are cordially invited to join the High Schoolers with Jonathon Motteler on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30p (Confirmation students, please continue to turn your homework and worship notes into Pastor Dennis.)

Lutherhaven Summer Camp. Time to sign up for a great week on Lake Coeur D’Alene. First Lutheran is giving a $150 Campership to any child connected to our church who wants to go. Registration forms are on the Kids Table or you can go online to lutherhaven.com

To all Thrivent members:

Many of you have taken part in Thrivent Choice, the program that lets members recommend where some of Thrivent’s charitable outreach funds should go.  All qualifying members can direct Thrivent’s Choice Dollars to an organization of their choosing.

Several of us directed funds to First Lutheran Church when Doyle Melius, our representative, was here a few years ago.  Since that time it has been done automatically.

Now, to direct Thrivent Choice Dollars, Thrivent is requiring members to once again sign up and designate an organization of their choosing.

If you would like to have Thrivent Choice Dollars be directed to First Lutheran Church, you may do so two ways:

1) If you have a User ID and Password set up, log on to Thrivent.com/ThriventChoice, or 2) Simply call 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and a representative will help you.  It will only take a few minutes.  Say “Thrivent Choice” when prompted.  It helps to have your Thrivent I.D. number ready.   Thank you

A Community Hymn Sing is scheduled for next Sunday afternoon (May 19) at the Ellensburg Adult Activity Center (506 S. Pine Street).  It's an open event, giving opportunity for the singing of the great hymn and gospel song favorites.  Time: 3.30 p.m. This will be the first of a series of such sings, quarterly.  Future gatherings are being scheduled at Mt. View Park (August) and the Hal Holmes Center (November).

Needed: People to bring cookies or other refreshments for fellowship time after the Sunday service.  There are sign-up sheets and more information on the kitchen door.  There are lots of open Sundays in May and June.  Thank you for your service!
