Flowers for today are provided by Fred & Jean Cutlip in honor of Fred’s mom.

Please join us in a farewell to the Weberg Family as we wish them well on their upcoming move to Spokane.  We will be serving cake in the Fellowship Hall after Service today.

Help is Needed:  Our church is fixing supper at FISH, the food bank, next Saturday, May 11th. Last time we were responsible, we did not have enough cooks!  Please contact a member of the Outreach Ministry if you can help.  Preparation starts at 3:00. There will be an opportunity to sign up for helping after church. Thanks.

Confirmation Classes are over for this year but Middle Schoolers are cordially invited to join the High Schoolers with Jonathon Motteler on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30p (Confirmation students, please continue to turn your homework and worship notes into Pastor Dennis.)

To all Thrivent members:

Many of you have taken part in Thrivent Choice, the program that lets members recommend where some of Thrivent’s charitable outreach funds should go.  All qualifying members can direct Thrivent’s Choice Dollars to an organization of their choosing.

Several of us directed funds to First Lutheran Church when Doyle Melius, our representative, was here a few years ago.  Since that time it has been done automatically.

Now, to direct Thrivent Choice Dollars, Thrivent is requiring members to once again sign up and designate an organization of their choosing.

If you would like to have Thrivent Choice Dollars be directed to First Lutheran Church, you may do so two ways:

1) If you have a User ID and Password set up, log on to Thrivent.com/ThriventChoice, or 2) Simply call 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and a representative will help you.  It will only take a few minutes.  Say “Thrivent Choice” when prompted.  It helps to have your Thrivent I.D. number ready.   Thank you

Needed: People to bring cookies or other refreshments for fellowship time after the Sunday service.  There are sign-up sheets and more information on the kitchen door.  There are lots of open Sundays in May and June.  Thank you for your service!

Rise and Shine Preschool is hosting its annual “Art Show” on Tuesday, May 7 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.  Children’s creations have been saved throughout the year and will be on display in the fellowship hall.   All parents and friends of Rise and Shine are invited to stroll through the gallery and enjoy the framed artwork.  Light refreshments will be served.  Congrats to our budding artists!

Thank you for your donation of $2,000 to Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center. This donation will be used to provide an opportunity for military children eight to ten years old to participate in a summer camp experience called Operation Purple Camp. We are well along our way of raising $12,000 to provide 50 children an experience at the Operation Purple Camp at Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center. At this point $8, 617 has been donated and there are several benefit events that are coming up in the next week. With the help of First Lutheran and many other organizations and individuals, I am confident we will exceed our goal.

"A Place at the Table," Bread for the World's 2013 Offering of Letters, aims to realize a world in which all of God's children are fed. The goal is to create political will by writing our policy makers, urging them to create pathways out of hunger and poverty. Join us Sunday, May 19th after church as we turn our faith into action by writing letters to our members of Congress and signing a petition to the president.

Parents’ Night Out May 10th: It’s time for Parents’ Night Out. This is a chance for families with young children to get out for a few hours. On Friday, May 10th, the FLC Youth will host your kids, feed them, and play games through the night. The night lasts from 6:00 to 9:30. No donations or gratuities will be accepted.  However, if you have interest in helping out with the event, please contact Jonathon Motteler or see the sign ups in the Fellowship Hall. We need people to cook, supervise, and clean. Parents and volunteers are asked to sign up so that we can plan food and supervision accurately.
