Flowers for today are provided by the Barry Family in memory of Jim Berry.

A Memorial Service for James Berry will be here at FLC, Monday, November 11th at 1:oo pm.

2013 Financial Giving Packets will be available for distribution today after worship. Take it, read the material, and faithfully consider your response. November 17 is Commitment Sunday, when you will have an opportunity to bring forth your pledge, or it can be hand delivered or mailed to the church office.  As a side note, please write your name on the outside of the pledge envelope, so that it can be returned to you next year. This year the pledges had to opened to know who to return them to.

New Members/Inquirer’s Classes: Sundays Nov 3,10,17 & 24 at 11:30 AM in the chapel. Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a little refresher on what Lutherans believe and do is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services.  We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis and read together Dan Erlander’s great little book, “Baptized We Live.”  Please plan on attending all four classes if you can.  It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Youth Fun Nights:  the Second Tuesday of the month. We don’t have the Lutherhaven counselors like last year, because Lutherhaven’s funding for that program dried up.  But we think we can do a “home-grown” version of youth fun nights here, which will consist of games, songs, Bible verses/stories, prayers and dinner.

The schedule will be:

4:30-5:30 ~ Elementary kids

5:30-5:45 ~ Music for all ages

5:45-6:15 ~ Dinner (for all—parents, too)

6:15-7:30 ~ Middle/high school youth

If you would like to help with these evenings, see Pastor Dennis.  We plan on doing this every second Tuesday of the month, October through May.

Friday Food Backpack program for school kids through FISH Food Bank.  So far FLC has donated 10 backpacks. Thank you very much!  More are needed.

Refreshments are needed for Fellowship Time after the worship service each Sunday.  There are lots of open spots.  Please see the sign-up on the kitchen door to bring something to serve:  cookies, sweet bread, muffins, fruit, crackers & cheese, just to name a few of the possibilities.  Thank you!

Do you like to do crafts?  Each year on a Sunday in December we have an Advent Festival during the Education Hour (8:45—9:50 a.m.) usually offered is a continental breakfast for all ages and crafts for the kids.  We’re looking for people interested in either planning a craft or helping at a craft table (funds are available).  This year our celebration is planned for Sunday, Dec. 8.  If you are interested in helping, please see Carla Bergman.  Thank you!

Thank you to all who helped cook, serve, and cleanup the F.I.S.H. Food Bank dinner yesterday!

Community Thanksgiving Worship Service at FLC Tues. Nov 26 at 7:00pm. Everyone is invited to an informal community wide Thanksgiving Worship Service here at First Lutheran on the Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving Day.  There will be songs and prayers and scripture readings and brief sermonettes.  A number of pastors from various churches in town, including FLC, will be taking part.  The offering will (probably) be given to our FISH Food Bank. Coffee and cookies afterwards, of course.  Let’s come together and give thanks to our wonderful God!

All the Ministries of FLC will be meeting after worship today in the Fellowship Hall (feel free to move to another room if you need more pace or quiet). Congregational Life, Worship & Music, Education, Youth, Stewardship, Outreach and Property Management. If you are interested in any of these ministries, please feel free to join in.
