Veteran’s Day is today, we’d like to recognize and thank Veterans during the worship service. Also, feel free to leave early if you are part of today’s 11a.m. Veteran’s Day Parade.

Flowers for today are provided by Don & Donna Morris in honor of Donna’s birthday.

Thrivent Chapter Elections – Elections for the 2013 chapter officers for Kittitas County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be held TODAY, November 11th. If you are a Thrivent member please stop by the voting table before or after the service and cast your vote.

Scandinavian Potluck Dinner:  There will be a short planning meeting TODAY right after worship at the library table.   Please come and discuss this enjoyable event!  If you have helped out in some way in years past, we hope you will consider offering your assistance again this year.   So grab a cup of coffee and join us at the table.  Thank you!

Stewardship: Next Sunday, November 18th we will be gathering in the financial pledges of First Lutheran members. We will have the opportunity to bring these forward to the altar during worship. If you are unable to be present on Sunday, November 18th please mail in your financial commitment card or drop it by the office. These are confidential, of course.

BREAD FOR THE WORLD BAKE SALE, NEXT, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18th Break out the bread pans!  Muster the muffin tins!  Call out the cooks!  It’s time for our annual bread (etc!) sale to raise money for Bread for the World!  All baked goods are welcome! By uniting behind BFTW,  we support a strong voice in Washington on behalf of our nation’s and our world’s hungry people.  We help to lift our brothers and sisters out of poverty and despair.  We do God’s work. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will again match the money we raise, doubling our effect.  So all you cooks and bakers – raise clouds of flour, bag up your baked goods and bring them (a little early, please) to church on the morning of the sale, November 18th.  Our savvy savants will take it from there!

FLC Cooks Dinner at F.I.S.H. Food Bank: Saturday, November 17th We need help cooking and serving a Thanksgiving dinner at our food bank on Sat Nov.17th.  Jim Stolte is donating the (cooked) turkeys, so we’ll be cooking up potatoes, dressing, cranberries, rolls and vegetables to go along with that.  We start cooking and setting up at 3:30 and serve around 5 pm.  Clean-up takes about an hour.  Come and help for part or all of it as your schedule allows.  Let’s help make it a good Thanksgiving time for our hungry and poor neighbors.

FISH + Bowl:  Saturday, November 17th, FLC will be serving a meal at the FISH Food bank. Youth are invited to join in. We’ll help serve and eat dinner. After dinner, we’ll move to Ellensburg Rodeo Bowl for a game or two. It is $3.50 per game and $2.50 for shoes plus tax. Parents can pick students up at Rodeo Bowl.

High School Youth Group Returns:  Wednesday, November 7 & Wednesday, November 28th at 6:30p.  All high schoolers are welcome to meet with Jonathon Motteler on these two Wednesdays in November (we won’t try to meet on Nov. 14 because Lutherhaven Counselors will be here on Tuesday, Nov. 13and Nov. 21 is the  day before Thanksgiving.)

Jonathon is a junior at CWU and has been attending First Lutheran for a year now. He enjoys working with young people and plans to become a Lutheran Pastor. So, 9th through 12th graders come join us from 6:30 to approximately 7:45p on Wednesday’s November 7th and 28th.

Lutherhaven Nights at FLC: Second Tuesday of the Month, Tuesday, November 13th We had over 30 kids take part in October!  Everyone seemed to have a great time, so come join the fun.  All children/youth are invited on the second Tuesday of each month to enjoy games, songs, prayers and Bible stories with Lutherhaven counselors Lauren Bender and Eric Czirr.  Kindergarten through 5th grade meet from 4:30-5:45. Everyone, including parents, is invited for dinner at 5:45 pm,.  Then middle school and high school meet from 6:15 to 7:40.  This is shaping up to be a great thing for the kids and youth of First Lutheran Church!

New Members/Inquirer’s Classes: Sundays Nov 11&18 and Dec 2 & 9 at 11:30 am in the chapel. Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a little refresher on what Lutherans believe is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services.  We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis in the chapel room and read together Dan Erlander’s great little book, “Baptized We Live.”  Please plan on attending all four of the classes.  It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Adult Sunday Class began studying the Gospel of Luke today (since the year of Luke starts Sunday, December 2nd.) It’s never too late to join in. We meet 8:45-9:45 in the chapel. All are welcome.
