Flowers for today are provided by Don & Donna Morris in honor of Donna’s birthday.

Today is Consecration Sunday  Pastor Dave Kappus is our guest speaker.  Today we will be completing our time and talent sheets, as well as our estimates of financial giving for 2018.  We will offer them to God during worship and enjoy lunch together after worship.  The estimates of giving will be opened and seen only by our financial secretary Jim Stolte.  (Jim, and only Jim, already knows what people give to FLC for your charitable giving tax info.)  By the end of lunch we hope to have a congregational estimate of giving for 2018.  Whether you are able to pledge a lot, a little, or somewhere in-between, every financial pledge counts for keeping the ministry of your church going.  Remember that God loves a cheerful giver and we do grow in faith and love as we give first to God in our lives. And whether you pledge or not, everyone is invited for lunch.

Adult Sunday Class 8:45a.m. in the Chapel. All are welcome to join in reading and studying “Love Wins” by Rob Bell.

New Members Class Nov. 5, 19 Dec. 3, 10 Sundays after worship Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a refresher on what Lutherans believe and do is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services.  We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis and read together Dan Erlander’s book, “Baptized We Live.”  Please plan on attending all four classes if you can.  It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Sunday, November 26 - Annual Bread for the World bake sale!  In a time of negative rhetoric on all sides, is it not refreshing to support, and to be, a positive voice? Bread for the World is such a voice! In the 1970s, Rev. Art Simon, pastor of New York City’s Trinity Lutheran Church, and a dozen other church leaders— Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, and Lutherans — met to explore how they might address the local and global root causes of hunger. Those conversations led to action, and the founding of Bread for the World.  (See http://www.bread.org/history-mission.)  We at First Lutheran Church have long supported “Bread’s” mission: to be a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decisions makers to end hunger at home and abroad. Moved by God’s grace in Jesus Christ, we advocate for a world without hunger.

Two weeks from today, we add our energy and our “dough” (sorry!)  through our annual BFTW Bake Sale.  Let’s rise to the challenge! - mark our calendars, plan our baking, bring our baked goods to church on November 26, and give freely in thanksgiving for God’s gifts which we daily receive!
