The Quilt Sale continues today after worship.

On this All Saint’s Sunday, we give thanks for saints of First Lutheran who have died within the past year or so. They include: Opal Solberg, Grace Meyer, Ian Smith and Shirley Fagerlie. During the prayers today you will have an opportunity to name aloud other saints in your lives who have died and now live with Christ forever.

We are in the midst of our fall stewardship at First Lutheran and we have had 65 Time and Talent surveys turned in already! Thank you for being so attentive and willing to share your Time and Talents in the name of doing God’s Work within our congregation, our community and in the World. If you have not yet had the opportunity to complete a Time and Talent they are available in the church office or see one of the Stewardship ministry members. Our next step to complete the financial portion of the stewardship drive for 2015. Beginning this Sunday, we will be handing out to each of you, your 2015 pledge forms. Inside this packet is a Giving worksheet (used to help us focus on First Fruits Giving), a guide to help us focus on proportionate giving (a percentage of what God has already blessed us with) so we can move toward becoming a tithing Christian.

Ministry Meetings today after worship in the Fellowship Hall. FLC is in the process of updating its Constitution and bylaws. At your tables today you will find copies of our bylaws that pertain to your ministry. Please review these and suggest changes  as needed. (Of  course, also discuss and carry on your usual ministry activities.) Thanks!

Thrivent Appreciation Dinner – Thrivent members are invited to an appreciation dinner on November 6 at the Ellensburg Pasta Company at 5:30 p.m.  This will probably be the last dinner we have as changes are coming to the Thrivent chapter system.  Let Don Morris or James Stolte know if you will be attending so we can get an estimate of numbers.

Next Sunday, November 9th is Confirmation Sunday here at FLC. Come hear the faith statements of Emily Dittmer, Amber Koss and Luke Michel as they affirm their baptisms by the Rite of Confirmation. Cake afterwards, of course!

New Members/Inquirer's Class starting Sunday, November 2nd at 11:30 in the Chapel. If you would like to join First Lutheran Church or you have some questions or want a little refresher on “what Lutherans believe” come join Pastor Dennis for 45minute classes on November 2, 9, 16 and 23. We’ll be using Pastor Dan Erlanders’ great little book “Baptized We Live.” (Please come to all the classes if you are able.)

Adult Sunday Class 8:45-9:45a.m. in the Chapel. Come study the Gospel of Matthew with Pastor Dennis and friends. We are using “Partnering with the King,” a book and DVD by John Hiigel as a study guide. Everyone is welcome.

Thank you from Global Health Ministries: Thank you for your gift of a large box of Hospice Kits. The shipments of medical and equipment are eagerly awaited by our partners in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Liberia and other developing countries. GHM has active projects today in more than 20 countries around the world. We are working to enhance rural clinics, support the training of nursing students and catechists and monitor improvements in patient care.  Our mission is as important as it was at our founding 27 years ago. We are committed to continuing the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by enhancing and sustaining the health care systems of our Lutheran Church partners in developing countries. With your help we are able to help our partners grow in their ability to deliver lasting, measurable improvements in community health. Global Health Ministries

Youth Activities

Saturday, November 8th - Middle and High School Youth serve dinner at the FISH Food Bank! Meet at the FISH food bank at 3 p.m. to help prepare, serve, eat dinner, and then we clean up.  There are usually about 30 hungry people who depend on the food bank for their meals.  We are providing a vital and essential community service to those in need. Please come make a difference and bring a parent or two.  Not only does the work become more fun with more people, it cuts the cleanup time in half!  301 W 2nd Ave, Ellensburg, WA   -  at the corner of Water and 2nd Street!
