Flowers for this week are provided by Sheila Johnson in honor of daughter Kim’s birthday.

Women’s Thank Offering: will be Sunday, December 2nd.  The money will be given to Lutheran World Relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy.  Envelopes will be in the pews to be deposited in the basket up front during the offering.

FREE tickets for the Scandinavian Potluck Dinner will be available in the fellowship hall TODAY,  and next Sunday, Dec. 2, after the worship service. The ticket count helps us to have an accurate number for set up.  When you receive your tickets, please sign up on the board indicating what type of food item(s) you will be bringing.  If you sign up for food, please remember to get tickets so we know you are coming.  The dinner is planned for Wednesday, December 5th at 5:30 p.m.  Hope to see you there!

If you have tickets for the Scandinavian Dinner and you are unable to attend, please notify the church office at 925-2844 so we can keep an accurate count of table settings and food.  Thank you!

The Advent Festival is planned for next Sunday, Dec. 2 during the Education Hour, 8:45-9:50 a.m.  There will be hot cider and refreshments, and crafts for the kids.  Come join us!

New Members/Inquirer’s Classes: Sundays Nov 11&18 and Dec 2 & 9 at 11:30 am in the chapel. Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a little refresher on what Lutherans believe is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services.  We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis in the chapel room and read together Dan Erlander’s great little book, “Baptized We Live.”  Please plan on attending all four of the classes.  It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Adult Sunday Class is studying the Gospel of Luke (since the year of Luke starts Sunday, December 2nd.) It’s never too late to join in. We meet 8:45-9:45 in the chapel. All are welcome.

All Ministries: Sunday, December 9th after worship. If you are on Stewardship, Congregational Life, Property Management, Education, Outreach, Youth or Worship & Music. Please plan to stay for 30 minutes and meet with your ministry and council Representative to discuss and plan. If you have thought about serving on one of these ministries, December 9th is a great time to learn more. Everyone is welcome.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Community Thanksgiving Worship Service on Tuesday, November 20th here at F.L.C.

Community Christmas Basket: This year we are once again asking for monetary donations which will be given to the Community Christmas Basket Program.   Thrivent will match all monetary donations up to $1,000, thereby doubling what is given!   Look for a Thrivent officer at a table in the fellowship hall on Dec. 2, 9, and 16 or you may place your check in the offering plate. Please make any checks payable to:”First Lutheran” with “Christmas Basket” on the memo line so your donation can be matched dollar-for-dollar.  The money collected will be used to purchase needed food and gift items for the baskets.  If we can collect up to $1,000, we will be able to give $2,000 to this valuable community program!  We also would like to thank the quilters for their donations of quilts to the Christmas Baskets.
