Cold Weather Shelter will begin in November and go through February.  We are in the process of getting things organized right now and are in need of about 9 sleeping bags and some toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, all travel sizes) for our guests.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the shifts please talk to Pastor Dennis. First Lutheran will again be hosting on Thursday nights. First Christian Monday and Tuesday, Methodist Wednesday, Chestnut St. Baptist Friday, Meecer Creek Saturday, and Community of Christ Sunday.

FLC will take a turn cooking and serving the FISH Food Bank Dinner here this Saturday. We start cooking and prepping at 3p, serve at 5p and are usually all cleaned up by 6:20. Let Pastor Dennis know if you can help.

“Stewards of God’s Love” – (Down/In/Out) This is the theme and focus for our fall Time and Talent survey and financial pledge Sundays. This time of stewardship focus starts now and runs until Nov 15th.  We will be completing the Time and Talents surveys at each church service between Oct 11th and Oct 25th.  We will begin the financial focus on Sunday November 8th and will Celebrate our Estimate of Giving at the Consecration Sunday service on November 15th.

Remember that God’s unconditional Love comes down to each of us in the same way and we are entrusted with different gifts, talents, and treasurers.  Because God’s gifts come in to each of us from abundance, not scarcity, we are asked to share out from our abundance as God shared his son Jesus Christ with us.  Practice of s order, theardship is the way we use all of resources (time, talents, possessions, and treasures) to love God and our neighbor. God’s Love comes DOWN unconditionally to each of us.

We then look IN to discover all that God has entrusted to our care. We then look  OUT understand the needs of our neighbors.  While these three actions may not always happen in this order, the practice of stewardship always invites all three.

Sound Operators Needed – Looking for one or two more people to run the sound board on Sunday mornings, possibly once a month.  Training and coaching will be provided.  You can check it out and if it is not for you there is no commitment.  If you are interested see James Stolte.  Youth are encouraged to think about it.
