New Members Class Nov. 5, 19 Dec. 3, 10 Sundays after worship Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a refresher  on what Lutherans believe and do is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services.  We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis and read together Dan Erlander’s book, “Baptized We Live.”  Please plan on attending all four classes if you can.  It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

QUILT SALE Sunday, November 5 Save the date.  Please put November 5th on your calendar for our annual Quilt Sale. The proceeds from this sale will go back to the church’s general fund; for music & worship, VBS, or where ever funds are needed. A handful of quilters have worked all summer on quilts for this sale. Please purchase one of these beautiful quilts made with lots of love!

Cold Weather Shelter The month of November is rapidly approaching and First Lutheran again plans to host a cold weather shelter on Thursday nights, 7pm to 7am, November through February, for our homeless population.  Other churches in town will also take a night of hosting the shelter. First Lutheran’s first night of hosting the shelter in our gym will be Thurs. Nov 2nd.  We will need folks from FLC, as well as the community, to work the 7pm to 10pm shift, the 10pm to 6am shift, and the 6am to7am shift.  Thank you for caring about the homeless poor in Kittitas County. Shelter will be at the following locations: Sunday, 7th Day Adventist ~ Monday, Calvary Baptist ~ Tuesday, First Christian (& Methodist) ~ Wednesday, Foursquare ~ Thursday, First Lutheran ~ Friday, Chestnut St Baptist ~ Saturday, Mercer Creek

Next Spring’s EWAID Synod Assembly is April 27-29 in Yakima!  MANY volunteers are needed!  A second planning meeting will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 5606 W. Lincoln Ave, Yakima, WA on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 6:30 pm.  We need people to help plan worship, make arrangements, and organize the program for the assembly.  You can be involved as much, or as little, as you want.  There's something for everyone!  Bishop Kristen Kuempel plans to attend this meeting and share her vision for the assembly!  If you can’t attend this meeting but still want to help, please let Deacon Dave Hellerich know at (402)489-7701or dave@hellerich.com.  Thanks so much!
