October Fest Potluck TODAY after worship. Come and enjoy a good Lutheran potluck as we give a special welcome to our new and returning CWU students. Hope you can join us for some good food and fellowship.

Thank you for your kind words and cards and prayers at the passing of my Father, Jerry Hickman. We celebrated his life and commended him to God’s everlasting care on Saturday, October 5th. Pastor Dennis and Family

Thanks everyone for bringing 185 pounds of food for FISH Food Bank last Sunday! Keep up the good work.

Thrivent Dinner: All Thrivent Members are invited to a free dinner at the Bar 14, 1800 Canyon Rd., on Tuesday, October 8th at 6:00p.m. There will be a short meeting before dinner.

Youth Fun Nights:  the Second Tuesday of the month Starting October 8th. We don’t have the Lutherhaven counselors like last year, because Lutherhaven’s funding for that program dried up.  But we think we can do a “home-grown” version of youth fun nights here, which will consist of games, songs, Bible verses/stories, prayers and dinner.

The schedule will be:

4:30-5:30 ~ Elementary kids

5:30-5:45 ~ Music for all ages

5:45-6:15 ~ Dinner (for all—parents, too)

6:15-7:30 ~ Middle/high school youth

If you would like to help with these evenings, see Pastor Dennis.  We plan on doing this every second Tuesday of the month, October through May.

Friday Food Backpack program: Our FISH Food Bank is putting together a Friday food Backpack program in Ellensburg. Basically this means filling backpacks with nutritious food and sending them home with kids on Fridays. The children bring the empty packs back to school on Monday. This program is already working well in thousands of cities in the US. You probably know that for many children, the free breakfasts and lunches are the best meals they get all week and hunger is a reality on the weekends. FISH Food Bank is hoping to start the program first at Mt Stuart Elementary and expand from there. The Food Bank has enough food to make it happen. Right now they could use good, sturdy, school-size backpacks. When the program gets going volunteers may be needed to pack or deliver backpacks, pick up empties on Monday.  So if you have a good pack you would like to donate to the cause, or can buy one (watch for sales) simply place it in the backpack box in the entryway. Thanks and God bless you.
