Sunday School and Adult Ed. will begin next Sunday, September 21st. at 8:45a.m. Adults: Come join Pastor Dennis & friends in the Chapel room. We will continue our book/DVD study of “Partnering with the King (Gospel of Matthew)” by John Hiigel.

 

A generous anonymous donor will match up to $500 of your donations to our radio fund; please give your gift by October 31st.


Sound – Would you like to help people hear the church service?  Do you like to push buttons and move levers up and down?  We are looking for people to operate the sound system.  If you are interested or have questions see James Stolte or leave your name in the church office.  Training will be provided.  High school youth are encouraged to think about it. 



Annual FLCW Rummage Sale

Fri., October 3rd 9:00-4:00

Sat., October 4th 9:00-1:00 

Items may be brought to the church beginning Sunday, September 28th until noon on Thursday, October 2nd.

 

~ Please, no magazines, computers, or exercise equipment.  And make sure all appliances and clothing are clean and ready for use.

~ We will need help marking items and organizing the donations. Please drop in during the week to help when you can.

~We need lots of help the day and a half of the sale and help with loading       leftovers into pickups Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

~ We will also need many pies and bread!  BAKERSPlease bring your baked goods in by Friday morning

Did you know. . . ALL proceeds from the sale are donated to several charities (including local).  Funds will be matched by Thrivent.

 

 

Hospice Kits

 

First Lutheran will also participate in a service project for Global Health Ministriesassembling Hospice Kits. These are distributed through Lutheran hospice programs to those suffering from HIV/Aids, cancer and other terminal diseases, reaching into remote villages in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Kenya.  Thrivent Financial has agreed to help with funding for these kits. A collection table for donations will be set up in the Fellowship Hall. The kits will be assembled by the Sunday school children. Needed for the kits are:

New or gently used: 

Regular size bath towels and wash cloths

New:

Bath size bars of soap, wrapped Toothbrush in original pkg.

Toothpaste, medium or large “Pick” style combs

 Band-Aids, 6/rubber banded                            Nail Clippers   

Petroleum Jelly, jars or tubes, 4 oz. or larger, lids taped                 

Small devotional books

Heavy duty household gloves, kitchen type, size medium

 

Holden on the Road at Lazy F: All events are family-oriented with special activities planned for children. The special elements of life at Holden are included in each of the events: worship, Bible study, teaching sessions, craft opportunities, a hike and/or outdoor recreation and family-style meals. The one-day events will close with Marty Haugen’s Holden Evening Prayer. Weekend retreats will include Prayer Around the Cross Friday night, Evening Prayer on Saturday and a closing worship with Eucharist Sunday morning. The price for a one-day event includes lunch, dinner, snacks and activities for children ages 3 and up. The price for the weekend events includes six meals, snacks, two nights’ lodging and activities for children ages 3 and up.  Please register as soon as possible to assist us with our planning. Red Cross Blood Drive: Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 11:30a—4:30p in First Lutheran’s gym.

 

Youth Activities

 

Today, Sunday, September 14:  FLC Youth Cupcake Madness. Come by the church to compete in baking and decorating the best cupcakes ever.   May the best cupcake team win!  Meet at the church from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

 Calling all teens!  Calling all teens!  YouthNight begins Wednesday, September 17th at 6:30 p.m.  What's in store:  a sneak peek at a video (courtesy of the Boast family), a review of Manna and Mercy, and step 2 planning party for our Seahawks Tailgating fundraiser! 

 

Saturday, September 20:   Return to EMP. We will leave the church at 9 and come back about 6.  Bring a lunch or money to eat at the museum cafe.  Sign up on the youth board for transportation!
