Choir: Are you warming up your voice in the shower in preparation for choir rehearsals beginning October 1st at 7:00p.m.?

Cold Weather Shelter Training TODAY, 11:30a Lunch is provided. It’s hard to think about cold weather already, but winter will be upon us in a few months.  Again this year, First Lutheran will offer shelter to needy people on Thursday nights.  The game plan is to start November 1st and go through the end of February or the first part of March.  First Christian and First United Methodist and Mercer Creek Church will also be hosting nights.

Pastor Cathy Stone, a friend of Methodist Pastor Jen Stewart, will be offering the training.  Cathy was instrumental in running a cold weather shelter for the homeless in Austin Texas for 10 years and has some good practical advice for us.

Thank you very much to those who helped me out with the shelter last winter and I hope you are willing to help me again this year.  New volunteers are always welcome, of course.  The training will take about 90 minutes.  (Seahawks don’t play until 5p.)

In Christ,  Pastor Dennis

Update on our South Property (rental units), in August we had an unfortunate water leak  that resulted in almost $12,000 in bills to find and fix the leak. It was not covered by insurance.  If anyone would like to donate to this, please mark your offering as “Water Leak.”

Refreshments needed for fellowship time after each Sunday service.  If anyone is interested in bringing treats, see more information on the kitchen door.  The sign-up is also there, and several upcoming Sundays are open.  Thank you in advance for your hospitality and service.

The School Supply Drive is coming to a close.  Thank you all so very much for the multitudes of crayons, papers, backpacks, and much more!  Our community is a better place because of our generosity!  An enormous and heartfelt thank you to goes to Karen McLean who hand delivers all of our school supplies.  Her hard work and diligence helps make this supply drive a successful one.

Just keep knitting - the box is brimming!  Grab some yarn and make someone's winter a warm one!

Here comes the 12th Man!  Mark your calendars:  October 18th is our 12th Man Tailgating Fundraiser.  All proceeds go to the Radio Fund, which finances our air time on KXLE. Each week our service is broadcasted to the community and enables those who are shut in, sick, tending harvest, or traveling through to worship the Lord with us.
