Flowers for today are provided by Sheila Johnson in honor of her grandson Taylor’s 25th birthday.

 

Communion Assistants; We are celebrating Holy Communion every Sunday.  We would really love to have some more people to serve as communion assistants. 

             If you are interested in helping out, please contact the church office or Estelle Johnson.

 

Choir Practice Resumes Thursday, October 4th

It's time to start singing so get those pipes warmed up for choir rehearsals which will begin Thursday, October 4th in the Sanctuary at 7p.m. Of course, we at First Lutheran sing in church every Sunday (and sing very well, too), but we love to have our choir sing anthems to help celebrate what God has done for us.  All are welcome!

 

Soup, Soup, Soup………..we are still collecting soup for FISH Food Bank.  This will continue through October.  Thank you to all those who have donated. 

 

The Rummage Sale is coming soon: October 5-6.  Time to start sorting through clothes, books, etc. at home to donate.  All proceeds go to worthy charities.  Linda Strand is heading it up again.

 

Thank you to everyone for the love and compassion given to my family since the passing of my father.  Your kindness gives us strength and endurance while we adjust to this new loss in our lives.  Amy McCoy and family

 

Our Women’s Retreat is this coming weekend, Friday night to Sunday morning, Sept. 28—30.  There are 21 women from First Lutheran heading to Lazy F Camp!  Please pray that our time away will be relaxing, enjoyable, and renewing...

 

BBQ for abandoned husbands and children.  Saturday, Sept. 29 5-8 pm.  Boss’ house, 721 Willett road.  Bring whatever you want to throw on the grill.  Bring the kids, jump on the trampoline.  Mario kart tournament.  Bad food choices and frosty cold beverages.  Call, text or email Chuck with questions or concerns.  (509) 607-3636.  Don’t worry mammas, Evie will be there and knows how to dial 911.


Central WA Cluster Meeting Sunday, October 14th 3p.m. at Christ Lutheran, Yakima.  The ELCA churches in our area (E’burg, Yakima, Goldendale, Toppenish, Sunnyside & Grandview) get together twice yearly to share ideas, maintain friendships and learn together.  Our new Eastern WA-ID Director of Evangelical Mission (DEM) Mary Morrow will be with us and a light supper will be served. Let Pastor Dennis know if you are interested in going and you can catch a ride with him if you like.



Youth Activities

FLC Youth (grades 6 - 12)

 

Today: Nailed It! competition!  Put on an apron and be at the church by 1 pm!  The ovens will be ready!

 

Family Fun Night Haunted Maze Committee - check in with Elaina for times for a working party on Saturday, Sept 29.  Wear clothes you can get paint on.

 

October 6 - 3 to 5 pm Decorating party for the 12th Man Fundraiser!  Streamers first, pizza after!

 

October 7 - 12th Man Fundraiser!!!  Sign up to bring food items!  Get creative, get crazy, keep it yummy!

 

October 10 - Family Fun Night!  Set up starts at 3 pm!  Dinner will be at 5:30, so that only gives us a couple hours!

 

 

Operation Christmas Child is underway

We are collecting toys, socks, books, etc that will fit inside a shoebox.  Shoeboxes are welcome as well!
