Middle/High School Sunday School has been cancelled until father notice, due to attendance.  Is there interest in having a class once a month on a Sunday evening?  If so, Michael Goerger is willing to teach it.  Let Amy, Pastor or Carla know your thoughts.

October Festival Thursday, October 3rd 10-3 at St Andrews Catholic Church.  Farmer Market and Country Store with crafts and baked goods.  Lunch 11-2 $5

 

Women’s Retreat @ FLC October 11-12 Come join us for a special time of fellowship.  We will begin Friday at 6:00 p.m. with a potluck and evening activities, then continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m.—4:30 p.m.  Cost is $25 per person.  Registration forms are available on the small table in the fellowship hall.  If you would like to sponsor someone for the retreat, donations are accepted. 

 

Central WA Cluster Meeting  Sunday, October 13th 2p.m. at Christ Lutheran, Yakima.  The ELCA churches in our area (Eburg, Yakima, Goldendale, Toppenish, Sunnyside & Grandview) get together twice yearly to share ideas, maintain friendships and learn together.  We will also be electing a lay female to a 5 year term on Synod Council. Let Pastor Dennis know if you are interested in going and you can catch a ride with him if you like.

 

Choir Practice Resumes Thursday, October 3rd It's time to start singing so get those pipes warmed up for choir rehearsals which will begin Thursday, October 3rd in the Sanctuary at 7p.m. Of course, we at First Lutheran sing in church every Sunday (and sing very well, too), but we love to have our choir sing anthems to help celebrate what God has done for us.  All are welcome!


Annual FLCW Rummage Sale!

Please bring in your donated items beginning TODAY until noon on Thursday, October 3rd.

~ No magazines, computers, or exercise equipment.  Please make sure all appliances and clothing are clean and ready for use.

~ We will need help marking items and organizing the donations. Please drop in during the week to help when you can. 

~ We need lots of help to serve lunch and to sell items, and to load leftovers into pickups Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

~ We also need soup, pies, and bread by Friday morning!  (Please see sign-up in fellowship hall.)

Weekend Nutrition for Hungry Kids First Lutheran will once again be participating in providing weekend nutrition for kids at Lincoln Elementary, Damman and Thorp Schools. Our Food Bank contact person, Judy Ragland has placed a box under the coat rack with a suggested list of non-perishable and easy to prepare food items.  FLC will also order some foods through the Food Bank since FISH can get them at a greatly reduced price.  We will pack bags of food on Thursday and deliver them. Your donations are greatly appreciated.  If you prefer to give a check, please make it out to First Lutheran Church and mark “Weekend Nutrition Program” in the memo line.  Thank you for helping to alleviate hunger in our community! Examples of food items needed: protein bars, 6oz juice, 4 oz applesauce or fruit cups, prepared puddings, packages of crackers and cheese or peanut butter, 6oz packages of fruit snacks or raisins, packages of hot chocolate or apple cider, breakfast cookies, nutria grain bars, granola bars, shelf stable milk, instant oatmeal.



Youth Activities

FLC Youth (grades 6 - 12)

Pew take over continues:  Join Amy in pews 1 and 2.  Let's see how many youth we can pack in there!

 

Today:  High School Youth continue working on cardboard sets for the Haunted Maze.  After church - approx 2 hours

 

Next Sunday, Oct 6: Thompson's Farm, Naches Pumpkin patch trip.  Sign up on the board!  We need drivers!  (I will be headed to Pullman right after)   Pumpkin cannon, maze, picking apples and pumpkins, homemade cider and donuts!

 

Oct 20: 12th Man!!  Sign up for food!

 

Oct 30: Family Fun night!  Middle school youth - see Amy about what game you are running!

 

Last day for Maddie's closet:  Like a dress, try the dress, take the dress!  If you have a dress to donate, please do.  Someone's last year fashion is someone else's diva look this year! 

 

Spread the word about our Family Fun night!  We want to have fun with everyone (aka outreach)!  Fliers available - let me know how many you want.
