By-laws: Neil Caulkins will be on hand today (January 17th) after worship to discuss bylaw changes with anyone. We are in the process of updating our constitution and bylaws.

Interested in serving on the church council? We need to elect two more council members at our January 31st Annual Meeting. Council Meetings are the second Monday of the month at 7p.m. See Pastor Dennis, Mary Aho or Pete Peterson for details.

FLC will take a turn cooking and serving the FISH Food Bank Dinner this Saturday, January 23rd. We start cooking and prepping at 3p, serve at 5p and are usually all cleaned up by 6:20. Let Pastor Dennis know if you can help.

A big thank you to Mary Weeks for the beautiful new Epiphany banner. Do you see the “lights?” Do you see the church? Do you see the waters of baptism? “The light of the world is Jesus.”

Souper Bowl of Caring: Sunday, February 7th, bring a dollar or a can of soup for our FISH Food Bank.

Annual Meeting of First Lutheran Church: Sunday, Jan 31st  The annual meeting of our congregation will be Sun. Jan 31st after the 10 AM worship service.  You won’t go hungry, because the youth will be serving their famous baked-potato bar with all the toppings.  We need all voting members of FLC at this meeting to elect new church council members, pass a budget and (perhaps) approve the new version of our bylaws.

Free: If you would like to have an old green Lutheran Book of Worship, please help yourself. The church will hold on to 20-30, but please take home any of the LBW’s on the book cart near the coat rack.

Cold Weather Shelter for homeless people Thursday Nights at First Lutheran 7p-7a. The weekly schedule is:  Mon/Tues—First Christian,  Wed—-First Methodist,  Thurs—First Lutheran,  Fri—Chestnut St. Baptist,  Sat—Mercer Creek,  Sun—Community of Christ. Please call me 925-2844 church or 933-2605 home or e-mail flceburg@yahoo and let me know and/or indicate on your Time & Talent sheet that you are willing or go to www.volunteerspot.com and sign up.

Operating the shelter does cost the church money of course, heat, lights, hot water for showers and laundry. Would you like to sponsor a shelter night for about $30? If so just make checks out to “First Lutheran” and write “Cold Weather Shelter” in the memo line. Thank you!! Blessings upon you,  Pastor Dennis

Youth Activities

Hot Potato!  We need more Youth to sign up to bring food items and help serve up some serious baked potato madness.  We need: shredded cheese, sour cream, one more crock pot of chili, chopped chives, desserts, and veggie trays. All items need to be delivered by Saturday 30!
Q: Why did the potato cross the road? A: He saw a fork up ahead.

A big thank you to those who helped out on Family Fun Night.  We had great fun     making paper coats and glowing in the dark!
