Old Business:

Jan stated the minutes were missing the discussion on the FLC Goals Council had. Ida brought up that Sheila Johnson and Patty Akers want to form a committee to explore the goals and set Strategic Goals to present to Council for the future of FLC. Council members may join the committee.

Council members are to look at the by-laws to see if the committees there are doing what we should be doing.

The men’s toilet issue was taken care of.

New Business:

The pastor’s written report was given to council. Items and council discussion included:

2 Baptisms recently

Mary Morrow will give the message on April 15 and Laurae Lygre on April 30

Outreach: The Sunday coffee donations are in an envelope for council members to access for kitchen needs. Be sure to put the receipt in the envelope.

Worship and Music: Pete stated how Betty is doing a terrific job at choosing music and sharing her enthusiasm as choir director. All agreed.

Stewardship: Peter reported that FLC is currently flush. The offering envelopes finally came, which makes counting easier. Counters are stepping up.

Youth and Education:  Levi reported that VBS will be July 23-27 and the Youth Retreat is August 22-25.

Youth girls are invited to the April 15 retreat as well.

JulieAnna reported that Sunday School is going well and we are back to 1 class.

The Youth taught on Easter to let the adults enjoy the service.

Debbie suggested we use the Giving Tree for VBS supplies.

Congregational Life: Potluck on May 7

Spring Music Fest is May 21

Property Management: Julie Anna reported Brian McElroy emailed her and she provided parts of it. It stated that things in the church are breaking and it is getting harder to find replacement parts. At what point do we replace the broken items such as the water fountains and sink faucets.

Pete moved and Jan gave second to replace the faucets currently needing such and to buy locally. Motion passed.

The water fountain replacements will be looked into.

Summer projects are being lined up.

South Property: Julie Anna reported that the first half of 2023 property taxes were paid so the budget will reflect that as a shortage.

IT: The office staff will talk to Doug Fessler about access to Youtube

Pastor’s report to church council April 11, 2023

1. The season of Lent and Resurrection Day (Easter) went well.  Thanks again to the ministries and everyone who provided soup and bread on Wed. nights.  It was good to worship with our Methodist friends here on Ash Wed and there on Good Fri.  Many thanks to Julie Anna Boss and the youth (and parents) for the delicious Easter breakfast.

2. Thanks to Betty and Sheila for music at Dee Linder’s memorial on April 8th, and to Estelle Johnson and crew for lunch afterwards.

3. Synod Assembly April 28-30 at Pasco Red Lion.  We are electing (re-electing?) a bishop among other things.  Kara Danna and I are your delegates.  We are overnighting at my Mom’s house in Pasco which saves $100/person.  Sunday April 30th will be Compassion Sunday here with Laurae Lygre presenting/preaching.

4. 2 guests from the Ulanga Kilombero Diocese of the ELCTanzania were denied visas by the U.S. embassy in Tanzania.  But Philorian Mpendaye, General Secretary of the UKD will be with us at synod assembly.  He will be traveling around our synod and will be in Ellensburg May 6-7.  He will spend the night at my house on Sat May 6 and then be with us on Sunday morning to bring greetings/present/Q&A.  A potluck is planned for after worship.

5. Baptisms: Collette Foreman—1 year old daughter of Rick & Erin Foreman on Sun March 26. Ella Frick—13 year old daughter of David & Jolie Frick, on April 1.

6. Purchase an AED: About $1500.

7. Great to have the choir singing this year!

8. Mary Morrow, Director of Evangelical Ministries for our synod, will preach here on Sun April 16.  She will be the guest speaker/teacher at the Lazy F women’s retreat on Sat. April 15.

Next meeting Tues May 9th?   Devotions?

                                                                                             Peace in Christ, Pastor Dennis
