First Lutheran Church Council Minutes – February 8, 2022

Council Members present: Debbie Butler, Jan McElroy, Rod Johnson, Ida Malde, Jennifer Campbell, Sheila Johnson, Pete Petersen

Council members absent: Eric Merten, Joslyn Lavera

Non-council members present: Pastor Dennis Hickman, Julie Anna Boss

Devotions were given by Ida Malde.

The March devotions will be given by Pete Petersen.

It was moved by Sheila Johnson, seconded by Pete Petersen, and passed to approve the January 2022 council minutes.

Old Business: The slow snow melt has been good, there are no roof issues.

New Business:

Recognizing New Council Members: Joslyn Lavera, Eric Merten and Jan McElroy

Election of Officers: President- Ida Malde, Vice President-Eric Merten, Secretary-Jan McElroy

Committee Assignments Worship and Music- Rod Johnson

Youth- Sheila Johnson

Education- Debbie Butler

Outreach- Eric Merten and Jennifer Campbell

Stewardship- Pete Petersen

Congregational Life- Ida Malde and hopefully Joslyn Lavera

Property Management- Jan McElroy and JulieAnna Boss

Newly added will be an IT Committee- Rod Johnson

Reports:

Pastor’s Report: - See attached for the full report

The pastor’s written report was given to council. Items and council discussion included:

The Annual Meeting was short and sweet with officers elected and a budget passed.

The youth and Pastor had fun tubing and skating at Lazy F.

The youth liked the Valentines they received

Afghanistan Refugee Sunday was great, over $800 raised.

Wednesday Lenten soup suppers and service will take place: 4 soups and 4 bread loaves with offering going to ELCA World Hunger

March 9- Worship & Music and Outreach

March 16- Congregational Life

March 23- Property Management and Stewardship

March 30- Education

April 6- Youth and IT

If not enough attend, the suppers will suspend.

Outreach: Eric Merten was absent.

Worship and Music: Rod Johnson had nothing new to report.

Stewardship: Pete Petersen has money counters through April, $600 more is pledged for 2022. He will look at the time and talent sheets and bring results to the March meeting to have the committees contact people to join their committees.

Youth and Education: JulieAnna Boss and Debbie Butler reported that the Valentines sent were fun and the kids sent them to senior citizens also. $352.51 was taken in donations at the annual meeting potato feed. The 2022 Youth gathering was cancelled but a trip is still being planned for the summer.

Congregational Life: Ida Malde reported she and Patty Akers are thinking about FLC lunches for the congregation after Lent.

Property Management: Pastor reported that the church snow blower was fixed.

South Property: 1 renter in the South Property had a heating issue fixed.

Financial Report: See attached for a full report. January shows a surplus possibly due to a family giving for the year.

· Contributions to FISH for January totaled $703 and 36 pounds of food and 8 pounds of non- food.

Jan McElroy will not be at the March meeting and Sheila Johnson will take minutes.

The March Flare will have which Council members are on which committees and ask the congregation to join us.

Adjournment:

· The next council meeting will be held on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at 6:30pm

· The meeting was adjourned with prayer.
