OUR PEOPLE IN CONGRESS NEED OUR HELP! Bread for the World urges us to join Christians across the land in an "offering of letters" on Sunday, May 7. Do plan to linger after church to write to our one representative and two senators, reminding them to support measures to reduce hunger worldwide. This is our chance to cut through the din with a clear message which they do heed!
A model letter, names, addresses and writing materials will be provided. Speak up!
Last Confirmation Class Wednesday, May 3rd 6:30p.m. Time to turn in homework and keep working on sermon notes. Many thanks to Ida Malde and Carle Bergman for teaching with Pastor D.!
Our own Bishop Wells has written to Bishop Renard Mtenji of Ulanga Kilombero. Here are a few sentences from Bishop Mtenji's reply: "It is great to hear the news about your synod and the way all stand firm in faith in this changing culture. It is encouraging to us. Here, youth, women, men, children as well as elders are active in faith and in the work of God in parishes. What is encouraging all of us is the progress of work in Tumaini Seminary. Most of the time I'm speechless as I see and experience friends in the Eastern Washington and Idaho Synod working hard for students of Tumaini. Really, we are partners, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ. I see need to express my joy and thank all people who donate and pray day and night for Tumaini. To Marj Nishek and the companion committee* for working on this project for these years without feeling tired. I express my thanks to all who have assisted. I also hope, Bishop Wells, that you will visit us in the future. I hope and, if God wish, you will be with us at the dedication of the dining hall.
Yours in Christ,
Bishop Renard Mtenji
