Happy Easter!

Winter Shelter Volunteer Appreciation Potluck Tues, April 7th 6p @ Methodist Church. We just want to gather together after our first winter of providing shelter for homeless folks and say a big “Thank You” to all who volunteered their time. Please bring a little food to share with the group. It will also be a time to debrief and ask “What worked? What didn’t? What could we improve? This will help us plan ahead for next November.

Many thanks to all who helped make the Passover Seder Meal happen on April 2nd. Special thanks to the Malde’s for roasting the lamb and getting things ready.

Our friend in Christ, Glen McLean, died peacefully on March 19th. A memorial service and celebration a of Glen’s life is being planned for Saturday, April 11th. At 2p.m. Blessed be Glen’s memory among us.

The next Red Cross Blood Drive at First Lutheran will be Monday, April 13 from 1:00—6:00pm in the gym. ID is required to donate blood. For more info call 800 733-2767.

Food Bank Dinner: It is First Lutheran’s turn to cook the FISH Food Bank meal this Saturday, April 11th. We plan on doing something quick and easy for after Glen’s McLean’s Memorial Service-probably pancakes, breakfast meats and fruit. We’ll start cooking about 4p and serve around 5p. Let Pastor Dennis know if you can help.

Chestnut Street Baptist, Annual Resurrection Choir Concert is set for Sunday, April 5, at 6:00 p.m. It will be followed by a potluck cookie social. We would love to invite all of your folks to join with us in celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus with us in this way. If you don’t have anything scheduled for Sunday evening, please feel free to announce this event to your folks.

Thrivent Financial – “Action Teams” New for 2015. Think about an unmet need in your community and how you could help. Apply to lead your volunteer team in a one-time fundraiser, service activity or educational event that can be completed within 90 days. Once your project is approved, you'll receive a Thrivent Action Kit, including: Promotional banner; Invitations and thank-you cards; Thrivent Action Team T-shirts; and A $250 Community Impact Card you can use as seed money to purchase project supplies and create promotional materials.

How often am I eligible? All Thrivent members are eligible to lead a Thrivent Action Team. However, the number of teams each member can lead per year depends on his or her membership type. Benefit members are eligible to lead two Thrivent Action Teams per calendar year, and associate members are eligible to lead one per calendar year (maximum of three). Want to fill out an application? Confirmation Classes start up again this Wednesday, April 8th at 6:30p. Only 4 classes to go to finish up our unit on the Lord’s Prayer (April 8, 22, 29 and May 6th). See you Wednesday!
