Gluten Free Wafers for Holy Communion We now offer gluten free wafers at the Lord’s Supper. These will be kept on the altar, on a separate plate. (So Pastor doesn’t put his bready hands all over them.) When at the altar simply say “gluten free please” and your server will be happy to get the plate, so that you can take the wafer. Rest assured that this is also the true “body of Christ.”

If you’re an eligible Thrivent Financial member and have Choice Dollars available to direct, please keep us in mind. For more info or to direct Choice Dollars, call 800-847-4836 and say “Thrivent Choice.” and direct them to First Lutheran.

First Communion Classes Sundays Feb 25 & March 4 after worship I am inviting all young people in about 3rd grade or older to two classes on the Lord’s Supper. I will leave it up to parents as to when you think your child is ready to receive holy communion. The book we use, “A Place for You” by Pastor Dan Erlander is written at about a 3rd grade reading level. We will also look up some Bible passages and each student is asked to create a first communion project out of paper/clay/fabric/wood/legos/paint or just about anything. If there are students older than 3rd grade, who are not yet receiving the bread and wine of the Lord’s Supper, but would like to, you are certainly welcome to join in. The plan would be for students to receive their first communion on March 12th, or any time after that. If kids have not been baptized yet, we will need to talk about that.

Hymn-a-gras and Jambalaya Feb 13 6 pm (Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras) Everyone is invited to enjoy a jambalaya potluck supper at 6pm and then sing hymns to your heart’s content with Tor Blaisdell and Betty Kramlich at 7pm.

Ash Wednesday Worship February 14th 7p.m. All are invited to begin the season of Lent with the imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion. Repentance and Forgiveness prayers, scriptures, message and hymns will also be part of the service. Our Methodist friends will join us here.

Back by popular demand!!! - Munch Madness for the third year - benefits FISH food bank. Please bring lots of food (the heavier the better ) next Sunday as the first "weigh-in" is Friday, Feb. 23rd! We have done very well the last 2 years.

Munch Madness competition will be structured similar to the NCAA “March Madness” college basketball tournament. Businesses and organizations participating will be placed in tournament style brackets as a team, and on a weekly basis from the dates of February 23, 2018 to March 16, 2018, teams will collect food.

The weigh-ins will be February 23, March 2, March 9, And, March 16.

The teams that bring in the most food in pounds move on in the brackets. After the first weigh-in, teams will be narrowed down to 16 total teams. If your team is knocked out of the competition, we encouraged you to continue to collect food and partner with another team of your choice that has moved ahead.
