Thank you to Kathy Temple for accompanying the choir while Betty is gone.

First Communion Classes For Fourth Graders: Sundays, Feb. 23 & March 2nd after worship in the Chapel. All fourth graders (and older students who have not yet received communion instruction) are invited to attend 2 short classes with me on Sunday, February 23rd and March 2nd after worship. Parent(s) are encouraged to attend with their son or daughter and the classes will last about an hour. Please plan on attending both Sundays. We’ll taste the bread and wine and we’ll read Dan Erlander’s great little book, “A Place For You: My Holy Communion Book.” There will be a craft project to do and the kids will receive their first communion during worship on Sunday, March 9th, or at any time after that. Please let Pastor Dennis know if you will be attending, church 925-2844 or home 933-2605.

Pat Erickson: This February 24th Patty will be 91 years old. We are not having a BIG party for her, but are making a request of all of her scattered family and friends. Please, send her a Birthday card this month. She loves the cards. Kid made cards are always a big hit with her as well as anything with flowers and cats. Please contact the church office for her address.

F.I.S.H. News: FLC gave 218 pounds of food to FISH in January. Thank you!

FISH food bank has posted a full-time job (40 hours a week) as Office Manager. Cover letter, resume and three letters of reference should be sent to PO Box 85, Ellensburg. For more information, call 925-5990 or talk with Jean Cutlip.

Church Phone Directory Update: Do you have a new address, phone number, or other changes? If so, please stop by the free-standing bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall to make the changes for our 2014 directory. The annual publication isn’t just for members, but for members and friends of First Lutheran Church. If you don’t see your name and would like to be in the directory, please add your name to the list. Please put a check mark, next to your name to show that you have checked to make sure that your information is correct. Please, feel free to add your email address, if you would like it included in the directory. Thank you!

For all the Thrivent members and their friends at First Lutheran. I have two important items to share from our Regional Thrivent community that we can participate in. If you have any questions or need more information you may contact our congregational Thrivent board member Michael Krekling or any other member, Jim Stolte, Don Morris, Dewain Lien or Bea Fairburn.

1) Our annual Thrivent Member-Leader Gathering is scheduled for Saturday, February 22 in Spokane. The tentative time to block out is 9am-3pm, though we may shrink it just a bit as we continue planning. We invite all Chapter Leaders and

Congregational Advocates to attend as we share in the building of community, updates, new ideas and more! If you already know you plan on attending you may respond with a simple RSVP. I will follow-up with additional details as they are firmed up.

2) Thrivent Hockey Night, our annual member social that includes lots of

pre-game fun, is scheduled for Saturday, February 22 in Spokane: 4-6pm is the pre-game fun including activities for children, food, a nonprofit resource fair, and connecting with other Thrivent friends & family. The actual game begins at 7:05pm. Chapter Leaders & Congregational Advocates who RSVP and attend the Member-Leader Gathering on the same day will receive a complimentary ticket for the hockey game.

More info to come on both! For now, please save the date of Saturday, February 22, 2014 for our annual Member-Leader Gathering & Thrivent Hockey Night. It is my hope that each Chapter would send at least 2 leaders to this gathering.
