Happy Father’s Day!
Vacation Bible School starts next Sunday, June 23 until Thursday, June 27th. We will begin each evening with supper at 6:00 and finish up by about 8:15. Mark your calendars and invite your friends. Thank you to all who have signed up to help. Registration forms are on the table next to the sign-up board. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so today and drop it in the box on the table. Thank you!
Potluck Supper in the Park: All are invited to attend the potluck the last night of Vacation Bible School on Thursday, June 27th at the West Ellensburg Park covered area. You don’t have to be involved with VBS, just come and join us. The dinner is at 6:00—bring a dish to share and enjoy good food and fellowship.
Thank you to the Outreach Ministry who faithfully supply us with refreshments during fellowship time the first Sunday of every month. We appreciate you! Individuals may also sign up on the sheets found on the kitchen door. Thank you for your service.
Can you help us mow the lawn? A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall (next to the flower chart) to mow the church lawn. The church has all the equipment needed. The grass clippings can go in the dumpster. There are lots of open weeks between now and September. Can you take a week or more? See Mike Luvera or James Stolte to find out how to get into the shed and dumpster key or if you would like more information.
F.I.S.H. Dinner: It is not too early to mark the 22nd on your June calendar. That is the day our church prepares and serves (and cleans up!) dinner at the food bank. Preparation starts at 3:00. If you can help a little later than this, please plan on it. Just let Pastor Dennis know that you can help.
FISH News: The in-kind (food) contributions for May totaled 14, 077 pounds (this includes contributions of day-old food products from many stores)! FLC contributed 120 pounds. 1,561 individuals received food. The projection for the summer meals distribution is 175 children a day. This year, lunches will be offered in Kittitas as well as Ellensburg parks.
Email Updates: Would you like to receive FLC news, Youth updates, Prayer Requests, and/or Sunday School info through email? If so, then be sure to signup on the FLC Email Notification list. You can find a quick form on the FLC web site. Please signup now, and keep connected.
Summer Youth Program: The Youth Summer Schedule is now sketched out and available at FLC's web site (www.flc-eburg.org/ministry/youth-summer). Here's a partial list of what you'll find: Boulder Cave Hike, Mariner's game, FISH Summer Lunch Program, Winegar's Wednesdays, and Moses Lake Waterpark trip. For more information, please contact Joe Johnson at email@example.com.
High School Home Study: Tonight at 7:00–8:00 p.m. Joe & Melissa Johnson's house (416 W 9th Ave) We're spending some time in our Bibles...and FLC homes. All upcoming, current, and recently graduated high school students are invited to an hour in Bible study. And, we're asking Youth parents to host. If you're a HS Youth, bring your Bible. If you're a HS Youth parent, consider hosting. If you can host, please visit the "Youth Summer Schedule 2013" page on the FLC web site to signup. HSHS takes place from 7:00–8:00 p.m. on Sunday evenings, June 9, 16, July 7, 21, August 11, and 18. You can also signup to host or let Joe you'll be coming via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Youth-Parent Book Group: Another opportunity to get Youth in FLC homes—and read great Christian books. We'll select three books for the summer and spend 90 minutes talking about them. All Youth and parents are welcome to participate (and if you're neither Youth nor parent, we won't kick you out). If you can host, we need homes: Sunday evenings, 6:30–8:00, June 30, July 28, and August 25). Our first book is the short, entertaining, and thought-provoking C.S. Lewis classic, The Great Divorce (a very interesting look at Heaven and Hell). Group members will nominate and select the two other summer books during our June 30 meeting.
Youth End of Year Bar-B-Q: Irene Rinehart Park, June 20, 6:00–8:00 p.m. We'll fire up the grill at Carey Lake for our annual BBQ. This is our chance to welcome new Youth and say goodbye to those graduating and moving on. Pray that it won't rain on us. "Youth" includes incoming sixth-graders, outgoing seniors, and everyone between (and we won't kick adults out).
