New Members/Inquirer's Class started Sunday, November 2nd at 11:30 in the Chapel. But it’s not too late to join in. If you would like to join First Lutheran Church or you have some questions or want a little refresher on “what Lutherans believe” come join Pastor Dennis for 45minute classes on November 2, 9, 16 and 23. We’ll be using Pastor Dan Erlanders’ great little book “Baptized We Live.” (Please come to all the classes if you are able.)

BREAD FOR THE WORLD BAKE SALE . . . . . .Nov. 23rd Please plan on baking for the sale - folks can always use more goodies for Thanksgiving dinner - bread, rolls, desserts. Double your recipe and bring the rest to the twice-yearly Bread for the World bake sale. So far this year, we've earned $600.00 for B/W. Let's see if we can make that $800 for the year! Please sign up on the Outreach Bulletin Board (between the kitchen door and the coat rack. Thanks for your help.

Adult Sunday Class 8:45-9:45a.m. in the Chapel. Come study the Gospel of Matthew with Pastor Dennis and friends. We are using “Partnering with the King,” a book and DVD by John Hiigel as a study guide. Everyone is welcome.

Stewardship Stu here... with a question. Have you been paying attention to the stewardship material in the Flare and weekly bulletin? So, what do you think? Is this all about raising money for the church or is it about financial awareness? I think it's really about us. It's about you and me, our families, our personal fiscal fitness, our church, and our desire to share our wealth. We all have mortgages, school debt, taxes due, families to support, and tables to set. We all work around the same expectations and responsibilities when we give our weekly offering. We acknowledge our commitments but still have a desire to be a sustaining part of our church. We live in a community where some can waste gas and others are hungry. If we acknowledge that we have been blessed then it is easy to go another step and acknowledge our Christian responsibility for those less fortunate. I will use the score card in the Pledge packet to see what portion of my income I am currently giving. You should too. Really, look at it... what do the numbers say? Are we doing the best we can or is it possible to do more? Could we increase our giving by 1%? How much would that be? I think it's up to each of us to calculate what we have, what we can share, and what our offering will mean to us and others. Talk to God about your blessings and decide how thankful you are, and what you really want to give back as an offering. I will. That's my sermon... I'll see you in Church. Stu.

We are in the midst of our fall stewardship at First Lutheran and we have had 65 Time and Talent surveys turned in already! Thank you for being so attentive and willing to share your Time and Talents in the name of doing God’s Work within our congregation, our community and in the World. If you have not yet had the opportunity to complete a Time and Talent they are available in the church office or see one of the Stewardship ministry members. Our next step to complete the financial portion of the stewardship drive for 2015. Beginning last Sunday, we will be handing out to each of you, your 2015 pledge forms. Inside this packet is a Giving worksheet (used to help us focus on First Fruits Giving), a guide to help us focus on proportionate giving (a percentage of what God has already blessed us with) so we can move toward becoming a tithing Christian.

Next Sunday, November 16th is financial pledge Sunday. All who wish may bring their financial pledge forward to the altar during worship. These pledges will be returned to you unopened a year from now.

Go FISH for F.I.S.H. at Grace Episcopal Church. They will be collecting cash donations and non-perishable foods. Gather your friends and food items and join Grace Church, 1201 N. B St. Friday, November 14th from 7-9p.m.. A variety of card and board games will be available. Beverages and snacks, including gluten free selections will be provided. If you have any more questions please contact Marjorie Johansen at 925-5075.
