Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Okanogan Complex fire victims. We had a full pickup load. The distribution center was appreciative for everything and said to thank everyone. If you would like to get some information on the distribution center you can look them up on Facebook at TDC or Tonasket Distribution Center.

New Members Class November 1, 8, 15, 22 Sundays after worship. Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a little refresher on what Lutherans believe and do is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services. We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis and read together Dan Erlander’s great little book, “Baptized We Live.” Please plan on attending all four classes if you can. It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.
First Lutheran Church Quilt Sale Saturday, November 7th 9a.m. to noon.
“Stewards of God’s Love” – (Down/In/Out) This is the theme and focus for our fall Time and Talent survey and financial pledge Sundays. This time of stewardship focus starts now and runs until Nov 15th. We will be completing the Time and Talents surveys at each church service between Oct 11th and Oct 25th. We will begin the financial focus on Sunday November 8th and will Celebrate our Estimate of Giving at the Consecration Sunday service on November 15th.
Remember that God’s unconditional Love comes down to each of us in the same way and we are entrusted with different gifts, talents, and treasurers. Because God’s gifts come in to each of us from abundance, not scarcity, we are asked to share out from our abundance as God shared his son Jesus Christ with us. Practice of stewardship is the way we use all of resources (time, talents, possessions, and treasures) to love God and our neighbor. God’s Love comes DOWN unconditionally to each of us.
We then look IN to discover all that God has entrusted to our care. We then look OUT to understand the needs of our neighbors. While these three actions may not always happen in this order, the practice of stewardship always invites all three.
Sound Operators Needed – Looking for one or two more people to run the sound board on Sunday mornings, possibly once a month. Training and coaching will be provided. You can check it out and if it is not for you there is no commitment. If you are interested see James Stolte. Youth are encouraged to think about it.

Cold Weather Shelter for homeless people Thursday Nights at First Lutheran Nov. thru Feb. Kittitas Valley churches are pleased to be able to offer overnight shelter from the cold seven nights a week this year. Last year, our first try at this, we offered shelter 5 nights a week. But this year we have more churches involved and can provide warm overnights to people in need 7 nights a week, 7 pm to 7 am. The weekly schedule is: Mon/Tues—First Christian, Wed--First Methodist, Thurs—First Lutheran, Fri—Chestnut St. Baptist, Sat—Mercer Creek, Sun—Community of Christ. You are welcome to volunteer any night at any church. But of course, I really need your help here at First Lutheran on Thursday nights.
The work shifts will be a little different this year, so that we don’t have volunteers coming and going in the middle of the night. During the first shift, 7 to 10 pm, volunteers will check people in, show them the showers, help get snacks and help people find their sleeping bags and mats. During the second shift, 10pm to 6am, our overnight guests are sleeping and volunteers can catch some sleep, too, while periodically checking on the guests. The third shift (if this works) would be 6am to 7am for you early risers. Volunteers would make coffee and breakfast snacks, help wake people up, and have them roll up their sleeping bags and mats. I’ll probably be here every Thursday night to help out. We won’t be open for shelter on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s (all Thursdays) and hope to work an arrangement with Motel 6 for those nights.
A big “Thank You” to everyone who helped out with the cold weather shelter last winter and I hope you and others are willing to volunteer again this year. Please call me 925-2844 church or 933-2605 home or e-mail flceburg@yahoo and let me know and/or indicate on your Time & Talent sheet that you are willing. Blessings upon you, Pastor Dennis
