Flowers for today are provided by Sheila Johnson in memory of Mike.
A Memorial Service for James Berry will be here at FLC on Monday, November 11th at 1:oo pm.
The Movie "Luther" will be shown at Pastor Ginny Krekling's home October 27th at 6:00 PM. We'll have a simple soup potluck, watch the movie together and then have a brief discussion about the Reformation, the accuracy of the movie and try to answer questions people may have about the Lutheran Faith. All are welcome to join us, but this is probably not a movie that would interest small children. CWU student and faculty are especially invited. If anyone needs a ride to Roslyn please call or text Pastor Ginny or email - Pastorginnyk@gmail.com
Fall Yard Cleanup Saturday, October 26th 8:00 a.m. to noon. Please join us to help get our front garden ready for winter. If you have the following items, please bring to the clean-up: rake, shovel, lopper/clippers, gloves and pickup trucks. Hope to see lots of people there to help out. Thank you!
Next Sunday, October 27th. Four of our young people will be confirmed in the faith. Ellory Ferris, Laura Johnson, Sierra Smith and Laurel Weberg will be affirming their baptisms by the Rite of Confirmation. Come hear their faith statements and celebrate the day with them.
Next Sunday, October 27th, will be FISH Sunday. This is part of our "God's Work. Our Hands." celebration. Please bring a can or cans for the food bank next week. Soup and tuna and canned vegetables are always good. We are hoping the whole congregation will take part in this. We can use the insert to take home for a reminder! Thanks. Outreach
Friday Food Backpack program for school kids through FISH Food Bank. So far FLC has donated 10 backpacks. Thank you very much! More are needed.
Adult Sunday Class continues every Sunday at 8:45 a.m. in the Chapel room. Come join Pastor Dennis and the group as we study our way through the Gospel of Luke. Newcomers always welcome.
Quilt Sale: Saturday, November 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Sunday morning, Nov. 3rd. See the easel in the fellowship hall for quilt prices.
Stewardship Stu here with a question. Now that you've thought about how you can participate in the congregational life of First Lutheran and filled out the Time and Talent Survey I wonder if you've given more thought to your financial participation as well? Fall, like winter, spring, and summer is Stewardship Season. The stewardship committee's job is to encourage and challenge all church goers to be more than attenders, to be active members. You'll soon be receiving a Financial Giving Questionnaire. We ask you and your family to consider the hopes and goals we all have for our church and respond appropriately. Please pray about your personal budget and the amount you want to set aside for the work of the church. The Biblical norm is a tithe, 10% of your wealth. It seems like a lot but it's an amount that is within reach. Do the math, see what 10% of your income is, see what percentage your current giving is, then decide if you can get closer to tithing. As odd as it seems returning a portion of the gifts we're given really is a blessing. Remember, it's called “Offering” and that implies actual sacrifice that may well be outside a $10 a week comfort zone. Please take the time to fill out the questionnaire and return it at the appropriate time... and if you haven't filled out a new Time and Talent Survey get a copy in the church office and let your interests be known. Thanks for reading this and responding. See you in Church. Stu
The freezer is bare! We are in need of people who are willing to provide refreshments for fellowship time after the service each Sunday. Lots of open spots for the next few weeks, please see the sign-up on the kitchen door. Ideas include: cookies, sweet bread, muffins, crackers and cheese, or fruit. Thank you!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the Rummage Sale last weekend. Just over $2600 was raised and Thrivent Financial for Christians matched with $2000 more!
New Members/Inquirer’s Classes: Sundays Nov 3,10,17 & 24 at 11:30 AM in the chapel. Anyone who is interested in joining First Lutheran Church, or simply wants a little refresher on what Lutherans believe and do is invited to attend these four classes after Sunday worship services. We’ll meet for an hour or less with Pastor Dennis and read together Dan Erlander’s great little book, “Baptized We Live.” Please plan on attending all four classes if you can. It’s a great time to ask questions and get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Thank you to everyone who helped cook, serve and clean-up the FISH Food Bank Saturday, evening meal yesterday.
The Red Cross thanks First Lutheran for hosting a community blood drive last Tuesday. They were able to collect 47 units which can save up to 150 lives. Thank you so much!
