CHANGE OF DATE: FLC will be cooking dinner at F.I.S.H. Food Bank on Saturday, November 17th. (NOT on October 20th.)

Welcome back, choir! Good to hear your voices, singing praise to God! If you like to sing, consider joining the choir for rehearsals on Thursday evenings at 7p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Change of Address: If anyone is going to be away for the winter please, let the office know so we can either hold your Flare for you or mail it to your temporary address. Thank you!

Does anyone have a “boom box” that could be given to the Bible Adventure program? We’d like one that plays both CDs and cassette tapes. Please see Carla Bergman if you have one you’d like to donate. Thank you!

Lutherhaven Nights at FLC Starting Tues. Oct 9th. Something new and exciting for our youth will be happening this year. Starting on Oct 9th and continuing every 2nd Tuesday of the month through May, two camp counselors from Camp Lutherhaven will be with us for an afternoon and evening of fun and music, Christian learning and games. This is for all kids kindergarten through high school. The schedule for the day is 4:30 -5:45 elementary, 5:45-6:30 dinner for everyone (kids and adults), 6:30 Middle school and high school.

We are excited to welcome Lauren Bender and Erik Czirr to be with us on Oct 9, Nov 13, Dec 11, Jan 8, Feb 12, March 12, April 9 and May 14. We do need people to cook dinner for those nights and provide Bed & Breakfast for Lauren and Erik. Thanks to Patty Johnson & Suzanne Johnson for hosting and cooking on October 9th. Please let Pastor Dennis or the church office (925-2844) know if you can help. We think we’ll take a free-will donation to help with the costs of the dinners. It would be helpful if you could RSVP to the church with the number of people from your family who would be eating dinner, so that we prepare enough food. Come join the fun!

Youth(+) Sunday School: Want to know the Bible better? There’s a Sunday School year dedicated to just that. Together, we’ll develop a greater understanding of one of God’s greatest gifts: that collection of 66 books we call the “Bible.” Using Larry Richards’ Smart Guide to the Bible—and Bibles, of course!—we’ll read stories, talk theology, and share thoughts about this amazing text. And, if you have your own Bible, take it off the shelf or nightstand and bring it to church. Mark it up. Highlight passages. Make notes in the margins. (And if you don’t have a Bible, we’ll help get you one). Everyone sixth grade and above is invited. We start at 9:00 a.m. and end by 9:45 (so acolytes can be on time).

The Fall Youth Program: Staff and volunteers are working to keep an active and growing Youth program at FLC this fall. If you would like to be part of this, please email flcyouth.eburg@gmail.com. So far, we have some fantastic events and discipleship opportunities planned for the next few months, but we need help to make it all work.

Can You Lead ONE Event? Perhaps you’re interested in helping out with — or leading — a Youth event, but are terrified that saying, “yes,” will lead to a lifetime commitment and a permanent place on the Youth request list. Not so. As we attempt to plan Youth events and programs for the year, we’re looking for volunteers who will take one — and one only — event. So far, we have adult volunteer leaders for the Corn Maze, Fish-Bowling, and maybe a couple other programs. Perhaps you’re comfortable organizing a Parents’ Night Out or Christmas Cookie Baking. If so, please let Joe or Pastor Dennis know. Thanks.

Stewardship Stu here with a question... Do you know what a TIME AND TALENT SURVEY is? Such a deal we've got for you. The Stewardship Committee wants to help you activate your membership in First Lutheran Church and TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY. When you're shaking hands with Pastor Dennis today you'll see the display of Time and Talent questionnaires off to his left. Before you go out the door take a couple of minutes to fill one out. The questions are easy, it's multiple choice. This is the chance to tell us how you'd like to participate in the life of First Lutheran. For instance if you'd like to be a reader some Sunday check that box and the person responsible for finding readers will add your name to the list and give you a call to see if you'd be available for a specific date in the future. If you say yes the bulletin will be sent to you in advance so you can practice and it will come with an instruction sheet to guide you in what to say and when. It's the same with being a Communion Assistant, or a Greeter, or any of the other Ministry tasks we members can do to celebrate our belonging to this family. You know you want to be active, this is Stewardship, this is giving. Be more than an attender, be a member. Please take the time to fill out a questionnaire today. See you in Church. Stu
